Walking Programme

We aim to provide a wide variety of walks, from 4 or 5 mile walks within the Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council, to walks of between 7 and 12 miles in the area around DMBC, to walks of between about 8 and 12 miles further away in Derbyshire, in Lincolnshire, in north Nottinghamshire, West Yorkshire, etc., as well as day coach and weekend trips to the Yorkshire Dales, Northumberland, and the Lake District.

Each walk has a leader, who has overall responsibility for the party and who will have planned the walk.  See Guidelines for Walking Parties (Acrobat reader required) for detailed information on the role of the leader, the planning and the walk itself, and the responsibilities of walking party members.

Non-Ramblers’ Association members are very welcome to walk with us for up to three times before deciding whether to become a member of the RA.

We encourage more members to lead walks.  We have paid for members to go on navigation courses run by Foothills, an outdoor shop in Sheffield and we organise map-reading walks for members to improve their map and compass skills.

We walk in all weathers.  If a walk is advertised, the leader will be there to lead it!
